Telephones were first introduced in Bhutan in 1963. The satellite station was installed in 1990 in Thimphu along with the international services. Today Bhutan is linked to different parts of the world with internet services, fax and telegraphs. With the first installation of B-Mobile in the country, today there are more than 84 thousand mobile users.

Kuensel was the first newspaper in Bhutan. It is published in Dzongkha and English. Recently two other private newspapers joined the world of print media: the Bhutan Times and the Bhutan Observer. With these newspapers doing very well, Bhutan has access to the outside world. There are also three radio services: Bhutan Broadcasting Services, Kuzoo FM and Radio valley. At the moment there is only one Television Broadcasting Service which is the Bhutan Broadcasting Services TV.
